Thank you for visiting our web site! We are a leading research- and teaching-intensive department centrally located on the LSU campus, in Baton Rouge, which has been voted as one of the ten most beautiful campuses in the country. Our faculty are extremely research active and committed to excellence in teaching as well. We are very proud of the many accomplishments of our students and alumni and of the dedicated support staff. We have LSU's largest PhD program, and we are one of the best-equipped Chemistry departments in the United States.

Baton Rouge is large enough to offer many indoor and outdoor activities, excellent restaurants and shopping, etc. but still small enough to have a college-town flavor. Our unique local culture is sometimes called a “gumbo” of many cultures from around the world.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

We congratulate Carl Sabottke, a junior chemistry major at LSU, who has won a Barry Goldwater Scholarship Congratulations to two new NSF Graduate Research Fellowship winners: Carlos Chavez, who is a second-year Ph. D. student working under Prof. Evgueni Nesterov; and Anna Normand, who received her B. S. in chemistry at LSU in 2011, is a graduate student at the University of Florida in their Department of Soil and Water Science.
