A. H. Lane: When Nelson and I left Doric last week we had a hole to bedrock and got from 10 to 50c. to the pan on and in the bedrock.

Cap. Mayo’s garden looks like an outside institution; his potatoes are in blossom and the turnips and beets so thick he had to thin em out. The vegetables are as good as you can see or eat anywhere. The garden of Walbridge and Chace is in a flourishing condition and we can vouch for the taste of several varities.

C. B. Allen goes to Eagle as one of Mike Izzo’s chief witnesses and from there he goes on to Dawson where, it is reported that affairs may be so arrangd that he will wed Mrs. H. Dewey and return with her. Mrs. Dewey went thru to Dawson on the same boat.

Julius Rahmsdorf has had his building next to the Boston store remodeled and the roof raised which much improves the property. He is undecided whether he will rent the building or go into business himself.

Jim Halliday burned his hands and otherwise narrowly escaped destruction of himself, his robe and Cap. Mayo’s Saloon, Tuesday night, by the explosion of a lamp which contained headlight oil.

The S. S. Gold Star left St.Michael for Rampart July 24, with a party including Ceo. W. Ledger, an old timer here. They are making several stops on the rbad and due here next week.

Geo. Klapproth shut down the Glen Gulch restaurant Aug. 1 and says he will take a rest for a while.

Dave Scott is helping out Fleischman at the Miners Store.

It was reported that Mrs. Butler was apprehended by Marshal Dreibelbis while on her way to Dawson on the Rock Island. The marshal was on the Power which was said to have overtaken the R. I. above Circle when the arrest was made. The report cannot be verified and is not credited here. Jim Butler asked her detention pending settlement of $200 claimed. due him.

Major Maxfleld the new signal officer in charge of the corps in Alaska, crossed over to the head of the Tanana last month and is on his way down that river to Gibbon, inspecting the work on the telegraph line as he goos. He is expected at Gibbon any day now.

Lieut. Gibbs has 275 miles of line in operation from Gibbon up the Tanana since April of this year.
The greater portion is land cable laid on the ground for temporary use as the Wireless system is ex pected to be in operation this win-ter

Sam Heeter is building a large barn 30x40 ft. next to his old stable. Woods and his father are building a cabin on the Vacant lot next to their home on Frount. St.HAPPY

Joe Bush is said to be the happiest man in the precinct over his recent discovery on Boothby creek. He and Boothby sank a shatt, found pay but were driven out by water. They then drifted under the bedrock from the rim to avoid the water and say they find 5 c. to the pan 5 ft. in bedrock.

Dillon is suffering with a bee-sting in the eye. Blood poison set in and is a very sick man.

Jim Osborn stands by his story of his find up. the Tanana as reported in the "Miner" last week He and Cicero have arranged to put men in their places on 4a Glen if necessary, while they are prospecting the new creek. Osborn says he expected to be blackmailed when he didn’t give Wingate the report first. A U. S. Geological Survey party on the lookout for coal was in Rampart last week. The party is travcling in two small boats. T. W. Boyd and Willoughby returned from up river and report Godley and Welsh coming soon.
