Dear Sarah,
I had planned to get this together over the weekend, but always seemed to have something else to do. As I have time now, I guess I had better get this written so it can go off in the mail today. I gathered from your letter that you have me mistaken for my father. Its happened a couple of times since we began contacting relatives about the family history. I am quite used to it. I certainly would like to have pictures of Presley and Polly Wilkerson if you care to have them copied. A list of other old family pictures that you have would be much appreciated. Don’t worry about the cost of postage for the history. I expect that getting those two pictures copied would cost at least that much. If more, let me know and I’ll pay the rest of the cost.
When I have the Wilkerson history completed I do intend
to go ahead with a Wright history as well. I have been getting a little
information for it off and on, but have a very long way to go.
You mentioned having some of the Wilkerson history. I
expect that you will find that the first part of what I sent will be essentially
the same as what you have – only shortened. It’s taken from from the history
Anna Blanche got together with, I understand, much help from your father
( I do have a copy of the longer version.)
You will notice that Kelly B’s family is not included
in what I’m sending. The original forms were sent to Leona who neither
filled them out herself, nor sent them on to any of the others. New forms
have been sent to Martha Newman.
The Mundy’s never sent back their forms either – though
they have been reminded several times. So I just made a page for
them and put down what I knew.
Do you know anything about Lyndal Wilkerson? His form
was never sent back, and what little I know Henrietta supplied me with.
I am sorry the last page of the history is so faint,
but I think it’s still readable. Towards the end I ran out of the paper
I had been using and finished on another type of paper I happened to have
on hand. But on the cheaper paper the print just isn’t as clear as it should
have been.
Where I forgot to put things in while typing it up, I
added in by pen. Not many instances of that.
Grandmother is as well as can be expected for an 89 year
old. She’s still quite active and lives by herself in a small apartment
in Mondovi.
Wears a hearing aide now and can’t see very well. She
also doesn’t remember things as well as she used to.
Dorthy LaBore (Alaska’s daughter) and her husband Larry
came and spent a day with grandmother a couple of weeks ago – which she
enjoyed very much. Dorthy is the only one on grandmother’s side of the
family that we see anything of anymore. Larry has a well drilling business
in Mora, Minn., where they live.
Father is still farming.
Well, I think this has gotten quite long enough, so shall
end here.
Thank you once again for the offer of the pictures –
I appreciate it very much.
Sincerely yours,
Dale
