I wrote you a letter some time ago about Johnys illness. Since then, all that I feared in my letter to you have been realized.
Poor Johny he is gone. It seems hard indeed to part with so good a child. but my prayer is the Lords will be done not mine. It would have been a great pleasure could we have raised Jim up to manhood but such was not to be so. I never heard any man talk with such Christian love as he did. All our neighbors that saw him and heard him talk said it looked as if there was something unnatural in him he never shed a tear from the beginning of his sickness to his death. He breathed his last on last Tuesday morning at half past six O.C. We had his funeral preached by Bro Brooks on Wednesday at 10 O.C. We burried him by the side of Father left room between him & Fathers grave for mothers burial, as she requested. We have not got straitened up yet. There were a great many persons came to see him he would talk to all and give them Christian advice, even the old grey heads did not daunt him in the least, from giving his advice. I’ll tell you more in the future as I have but a few minutes to write now. People are hurrying me now in the nursery. Sympathize with us, and pray for us. John will you write an obituary and send it to me at your earliest chance. I hear that your Father is dead through a letter from Wilson Tally Our love to all Write soon
