Polly Wilkerson
She always complained of heart trouble and apparently
took laudenum
in the belief that it would help. She took an overdose, later felt ill
and called for her son Milton and his wife Amanda (Polly lived in a small
house on their farm), and died around 4 p.m.(March 1879).
Martha Jane Wilkerson Goss
Mark Twain was born in Florida, Mo. and the house in which he was born
was later owned by Martha Jane--property now owned by the State
Park Commission.
