Homework Instructions Required Homework: We are using "WebAssign". Buy a WebAssign acess card at the LSU bookstore at the Customer Service Desk (or some registers), Coop, or on-line. The price is $12.25 (WebAssign One Semester Access Card). What is "WebAssign"? It is an internet-based: www.webassign.net/student.html. This homework system has the advantage that it is graded immediately upon submission, showing you which problems are correct and which are incorrect. Another advantage is that you will have the opportunity to rework the problems you got wrong and resubmit your answers. Only the last submission grade will be recorded. Each of your assignments on the site lists the Due Date and Maximum Number of Submissions. To minimize the time on a computer, you can print out the homework assignment and log off. Work through the assignment and prepare your answers. Later, log back on and submit your answers. You can submit the answers to each question instead of as the entire assignment. (Generally each student will have a slightly different problem. So be sure to log on and get your particular set of problems.) You can also save your work on-line and submit later. You may seek help from Prof. Butler either in his office (329 Choppin) or by email (lbutler@lsu.edu), the tutors in the Biology/Chemistry Tutor Room, or even your friends (really, you are encouraged to work together). E-mail: Please note that I am not on line all the time. Remember to type which particular problem and what help you need. Or use the web browser to cut and paste your exact problem, since each student will have slightly different questions. If you need or want additional problems, see the Suggested Problems assigned below. WebAssign LOGIN: (active on August 29) You will need a username and password supplied by your instructor to log onto WebAssign. You will also need an access code card. USERNAME: For our course, the username is your paws email address. INSTITUTION: Type in lsu (again use lower case letters). PASSWORD: For our course, your introductory password is the last 4-digits of your SSN. Please change it after you log in the first time to a new password. If I have to re-upload the class roster, this may re-set your password back to the last 4-digits of your SSN. ACCESS CODE CARD: You can use the site free for 10 days.
